Mount Pisgah tennis moves into semifinals of GHSA playoffs

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – The Mount Pisgah varsity girls’ tennis team advanced to the second round of the GHSA playoffs with a 5-0 win over Prince Avenue Christian last Thursday.

This moves the team into the final eight and puts them three wins away from a third straight state championship. The Patriots will play the winner of the match between Paideia (Area 3, No. 2 seed) and Aquinas (Area 1, No. 3 seed). That match will be played sometime next week at the Country Club of Roswell.

The Patriots took care of business early, winning the No. 1 and 2 singles and No. 1 doubles lines fairly easily, clinching the match.

The individual results from last week’s matches are:

No. 1 singles – Blanca Tarrago won 6-1, 6-3.

No. 2 singles – Ines Tarrago won 6-2, 6-2.

No. 3 singles – Sarah Chapdelaine won 6-1, 6-2.

No. 1 doubles – Nicole Peters/Cissy Jamieson won 6-0, 6-4.

No. 2 doubles – Alex Brady/Gigi Large won 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
