Milton senior holds book drive for children in need

MILTON, Ga. – Caroline Filan, a senior honor student at Milton High School, made a difference in the life of a child as part of this year’s Make a Difference Day, Oct. 26, the largest national day of community service in the U.S. By partnering with Assistance League of Atlanta, she established a book drive at Milton High School that generated more than 320 books that are now in the hands of Atlanta area children.

For the second year, Assistance League of Atlanta participated in the USA Today Weekend newspaper’s Make a Difference Day by collecting more than 3,650 new and gently used books to elementary and middle school children in Atlanta and DeKalb County schools. Many of these children received the first book that they can call their own and take home to read. Assistance League of Atlanta is an all-volunteer organization that helps more than 50,000 area children and adults in need rebuild their lives and become more self-sufficient.
