MILTON, Ga. – Once again, Milton Theatre’s cast and crew have shown the state they have what it takes to bring home the gold. This time, they won multiple awards Oct. 13 for the one-act play, “Pippin,” including taking the title of state champion.

This is the third consecutive win for the Milton team. They went up against 12 schools from all over Georgia in a competition of 45-minute performances at the Georgia Theatre Conference Oct. 11 – 13 at the Rylander Theatre in Americus.

Recognition went to Channing Wan and Haley Hamblen as all-star cast members and McKenzie Kurtz as best actress. During the tech challenge, Milton won several events including knot tying and button sew for Melissa Oliver, as well as sound hook-up and lighting hang/focus for Christian Loria.

Two additional tech members, Jason O’Neal and Martine McClellan helped the team win the overall tech challenge award. Logan Godby and Amy Oliver won first place with a hand-to-hand act in the Georgia Theatre Conference Got Talent. The couple performed for the entire conference at the awards ceremony Saturday evening.

The production will move on to represent the state of Georgia at the Southeastern Theatre Conference in March.
