Medical complex being built in Forsyth

New complex across from Northside Hospital

CUMMING, Ga. – Across the street from Northside Hospital-Forsyth, a new $25 million medical complex is under construction with plans to open its doors in the next two years.

The Forsyth Medical Complex, in the 1300 block of Ronald Reagan Boulevard, will consist of two four-story buildings occupying about 102,000 square feet.

One of these two buildings is estimated to be ready for use in early 2014.

The other will be built as demand rises, said David F. Cash, president of Stanmore Development and managing member of Forsyth Medical Complex.

West Palm Beach, Fla.-based Stanmore Development just finished a similar complex in Athens, Ga. and is heading the project in Cumming.

“We chose this location for two factors,” Cash said. “First, the growth in Forsyth County is truly remarkable in the past, present and future — more than 1,000 new home building permits in 2011.

“There are few markets around that have these sorts of growth characteristics,” he said.

Secondly, the complex will harmonize with the existing hospital by offering doctors and patients more healthcare options.

Cash said that the medical complex has contacted Northside Hospital-Forsyth.

“There are always physicians who want to work in the hospital and be in their buildings,” he said. “And there are those who want to utilize the hospital facilities and work across the street. There’s always a market for both.”

Currently, Stanmore is finalizing the permitting with the county to build a parking deck for the physicians and staff, leaving the surface parking for patients.

The county approved the project in March and clearing of the site started last month. A groundbreaking ceremony for the construction will be held this fall, said Cash.

“What gets us out of bed in the morning is helping doctors make their patients well,” Cash said. “We try to create a sense of wellness.”
