MILTON, Ga. – Some kindergarten and first-grade students at Birmingham Falls Elementary School had a special guest read to them Dec. 10 in the school’s Winter Storybook Forest. Joe Lockwood, the mayor of Milton, came by to read to the students and talk to them about his job. The students listened intently to find out what snowmen do after everyone goes to sleep as Mr. Lockwood read “Snowmen at Night.”

Birmingham Falls Elementary celebrates the winter holidays by creating a forest of trees based on books found in the school’s media center. Each class chooses a winter themed book and decorates a tree based on the theme. The students then get to visit the forest and sit on a carpet of “snow” while listening to special guests read the books.
