NORTH FULTON, Ga. – Two students were selected to be the Student-Athletes of the Month for May by the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce.
The female student-athlete for May is Austin Webster from Northview High School. Webster plays lacrosse on a team that went 10-0 to win their region and went 16-5 overall. She received the most valuable player award and was a U.S. Lacrosse Academic All-American in 2013. Academically, she is in the top five in her class with a grade point average over 4.0. Outside the classroom, she has worked with the David Adair Mission Project, has served at the Trinity Soup Kitchen and will be traveling to Haiti to work with hospitals and orphanages.
The male student-athlete for May is Nate Reich. Reich runs track and cross country at Milton High School. He is a four-time letter winner in both sports and holds school records in the mile, 800 meters, cross country and in the 4-by-1,600 meter. He is a team captain and qualified for the Track and Field High School National Championship.
When Reich was 10 years old, he suffered a traumatic brain injury that affected the use of the right side of his body and his reading comprehension. After being told he would never regain full use of his right arm and leg, he was able to make a full recovery. Now, he speaks for Children’s Hospital of Atlanta in support of the Children’s Miracle Network.
Each month, one female and one male are recognized by XL212 and the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce for their outstanding accomplishments on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
