Manning Oaks, Original Pancake House hold pumpkin decorating contest in Alpharetta

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – At Manning Oaks Elementary School in Alpharetta, every teacher decorated a pumpkin to compete in a contest at the Original Pancake House, a school business partner, located off Windward Parkway.

Nick Ferris, the general manager at the Original Pancake House, came up with the idea and supplied the pumpkins for the contest. Each class decorated a pumpkin that was voted on by the staff. The winning pumpkins were two pumpkins decorated to look like Sully and Mike from “Monsters, Inc.” from Ashley Rodriguez and Susan Wolek’s fourth-grade class. Second place went to “Cinderella’s Carriage” from Lisa Hively’s kindergarten class. Third place went to “If you Give a Cat a Cupcake” from Dawn Wintemute’s ESOL class. Honorable mention went to “Papa Smurf” from Rachell Wolfe’s first-grade class.
