Man steals in Forsyth County, turns self in

CUMMING, Ga. — A man felt guilty about stealing more than $1,300 in goods from Walmart — so he turned himself in.

Joshua David Day, 23, of Dawsonville, was arrested for felony shoplifting, according to a Cumming Police report.

At 12:45 p.m. March 20, Day pulled up to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputy working a traffic stop and told the deputy he had stolen goods from Walmart, 1500 Market Place Boulevard, and wanted to turn himself in.

Day had some of the items he stole in his car, but told deputies he had dumped a lot of the other things in the woods near Outback Steakhouse on Market Place Boulevard.

The deputy went with Day to collect the rest of the stolen goods and transported him back to Walmart.

Cumming Police officers met with Day and the Walmart loss prevention manager and totaled up all the stolen merchandise. The stolen merchandise included fishing gear, clothes and cologne that totaled $1,376.

Day told officers he realized what he did was wrong and he felt terrible about it, so he turned himself in.
