CUMMING, Ga. — A man stole his friend’s car, sped from deputies and fled on foot, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s incident report.
At 3:30 a.m. Nov. 19, deputies spotted a 1999 Pontiac Gran Prix driving west on Canton Highway.
When they pulled behind the car, the driver sped up to about 80 miles per hour.
Deputies flipped their lights to try and pull him over, but he continued to flee.
The driver slowed right onto ERA Drive, and, about 100 yards before the intersection of Buford Highway, he drove into a backyard.
He got out of the car and ran toward Daylon Drive.
K9s were brought to track the man, but were unsuccessful.
Deputies ran the tag on the car, and it returned to a 1995 Honda Civic that belonged to a woman.
Deputies drove to the woman’s address, and she told them she was looking for her car.
She said her friend had been asking all night to borrow her car.
This “friend” fit the description of the suspect, so deputies ran his name.
They found he had a warrant out of Dawson County for misdemeanor probation violation, a warrant out of Illinois for felony probation violation and a suspended driver’s license.
