Man arrested in toddler's death in Forsyth County



FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga.-- On Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 10:59 a.m. the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office responded to a medical call at 3639 Roseman Landing in the Bridgetowne subdivision in north Forsyth County. The medical call was in reference to a 3-year-old child that was unresponsive.

The 3-year-old male had supposedly been found unresponsive by the mother’s boyfriend, Christopher E.Truett, 25, of Butts County. A call was made to 911 by Truett and then the child’s mother, Dawn Schutts completed the 911 call and started CPR on her child.

According to deputies, Truett then fled the residence and ran into some nearby woods. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search for Truett in the woods behind the subdivision and located him a short time later.

The child, Wyatt Pruitt, was transported to Northside Forsyth Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 11:45 a.m.

Through the course of the day, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office detectives interviewed Truett and have charged him with Cruelty to Children in the first Degree and Reckless Conduct. Further charges are pending autopsy results. He is currently being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center.
