Maisha Otway named new principal at Hillside ES

ROSWELL, Ga. -- Maisha Otway, formerly an assistant principal at Heards Ferry Elementary in Sandy Springs, has been named the new principal at Hillside Elementary School in Roswell.

Over a career of more than 18 years in education, Otway has focused on increasing the achievement of all children, with a special focus on students who are learning English as a second language. She began as an elementary teacher in Massachusetts, and later held positions with Atlanta Public Schools and with private schools and educational programs in Atlanta, Sandy Springs and Maryland.

She returned to Fulton County as an ESOL teacher at Dunwoody Springs Elementary School, and later became a curriculum support specialist at New Prospect Elementary School before going to Heards Ferry Elementary as an assistant principal.

Otway attended Our Lady of the Elms College in Massachusetts, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in teaching English as a second language. She also holds a doctorate in education from Walden University.
