FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Learn how to transform kudzu into a basket during two sessions presented by Forsyth County Parks and Recreation.
Artist Jolene Oh will guide participants in creating a basket from kudzu during two sessions on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the visitor center at Sawnee Mountain Preserve, 4075 Spot Road.
The first session, for ages 9-14, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The cost for county residents is $20.
The second session, for ages 15 and up, runs from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The cost for county residents for the second session is $35.
The Sept. 15 sessions are the first time this activity has been offered by Forsyth County Parks and Recreation.
“We always enjoy offering new and interesting classes for residents to participate in,” said Jerry Kinsey, parks and recreation director. “Learning to weave a kudzu basket is not only a fun activity, but also offers the chance to create something truly unique while gaining a skill that could be used again and again.”
Those interested in participating can pre-register at any of the county’s three recreation centers, located at Central Park, Fowler Park and Old Atlanta Park Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Registration will also be accepted via fax, mail and online at www.forsythco.com.
