JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – Leadership Johns Creek hosted a “Non-Profit Expo” Nov. 8, as LJC class members met with local nonprofits to learn more about the organizations, form relationships and advocate for nonprofits in the community.
Twenty nonprofit organizations from Johns Creek and North Fulton participated in the expo, part of LJC’s nonprofit program class day.
Nonprofits that participated included the Johns Creek Arts Center, Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra, Civitan Club, Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta and the Johns Creek Convention and Visitors Bureau.
In addition, Johns Creek Veterans Association, Rotary Club of Johns Creek-North Fulton, Vet Buds, Autrey Mill Nature Preserve, Johns Creek Beautification, Keep North Fulton Beautiful and A Beacon of Hope took part.
Foster Care Support Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Community Outreach at Perimeter Church, North Fulton Community Charities, Summit Counseling Center, Clean Air Campaign, the Drake House, Johns Creek Relay for Life/American Cancer Society and Special Olympics of Georgia rounded out the nonprofit groups that participated in the expo.
LJC class members also learned in-depth information about how nonprofits function and how to support the organizations through volunteering and fundraising. After lunch, the group sorted non-perishable items they later donated to North Fulton Community Charities, and later wrote thank you letters to military members stationed overseas.
