LETTER: Lest we become like Babbitt...

Dear Editor:

Lest we become like Babbitt, let us not be complacent about the high ranking several Fulton County high schools achieved based on the 2013 Washington Post ranking of the 22,000 U.S. secondary schools. Five of our neighboring school districts had higher rankings – Gwinnett School of Math, Science and Technology (10), South Forsyth (159), Walton-Marietta (168), DeKalb School of the Arts (207) and Norcross (208) – with less expenditures per pupil. Classroom size does matter, student resources do matter, teacher quality does matter. But most importantly, parental involvement is crucial to academic achievement.
