NORTH FULTON, Ga. – The Chattahoochee District announced its newest Eagle Scouts July 26, with two scouts completing and passing their Board of Review for the rank of Eagle.

Dean Rusk Middle School had an outdoor classroom that was not used because it had fallen into disrepair. Benches were broken and the area was littered with trash. Sylvester Lee Williams Jr., of Canton, Troop 206, led a group that restored the benches and built a bin for trash, giving the students a fresh and more welcoming area.

A new outdoor classroom was designed and built by Derek Ratzlaff, of Roswell, Troop 87, for his Eagle project. Ratzlaff and his team cleared an overgrown area and then built benches, a podium and a teacher’s board. The school now has a comfortable area for education in an outdoor setting.
