JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Johns Creek Aquatic Team swimmers reeled in a team record 14 first-place medals at the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association State Swim Meet in Carrollton July 27 and 28.
Among the stand-outs was 8-year-old Carson Kennedy, who set a new record in the 7-8 boys’ 100-yard individual medley preliminaries by more than a second with a swim of 1:17.42. A few hours later, he broke his own record in the finals with a time of 1:17.20. The JCAT (pronounced j-cat) also scooped up four second-place medals and seven third-place medals in the Class A competition. Class A includes Roswell and Alpharetta as well as programs from Forsyth and Cobb counties.
Established in 2008, this season the Johns Creek Aquatic Team fielded 81 swimmers from neighborhood teams across the city. Swimmers range from 7 to 18 years old.
