JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Georgia’s Own Credit Union, a financial institution headquartered in Atlanta, announced its 2012 scholarship winners.
Manasa Bhatta of Johns Creek was Georgia’s Own $5,000 scholarship winner.
Georgia’s Own awarded a total of $15,000 in college scholarships.
Bhatta, who attends Emory University, is one of eight individuals receiving scholarships from the credit union.
To be eligible for consideration, students must be enrolled or entering college during the 2012-2013 academic year at an accredited university.
Selection criteria included academic performance, letters of recommendation and a short essay. Bhatta was chosen based on her scholastic achievements, extracurricular activities and commitment to financial goals.
“We congratulate Ms. Bhatta and all of the outstanding applicants of this year’s scholarships,” said Allison Kimbrell, vice president of marketing and advertising for Georgia’s Own Credit Union. “We are thrilled to award these scholarships and help our young adult members further their academic goals.
