Johns Creek High grad receives Ga.-Pacific Scholarship

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Daniel Funke, a graduate of Johns Creek High School, was selected to receive the Georgia-Pacific Foundation Employees’ Children Scholarship.

Funke is the son of Nicolle and Jeff Funke, vice president of finance at Georgia-Pacific in Atlanta.

Funke served as editor-in-chief of his school newspaper, and took Advanced Placement and honors-level courses. He also competed in swimming and cross country, and was a member of the Lincoln-Douglas debate team.

Funke plans to study journalism at the University of Georgia.

For 20 years, Georgia-Pacific has recognized the hard work and academic success of employees’ children. The company awards 50 scholarships across the country each year. The scholarship program is administered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and is open to children of all active, full-time employees of Georgia-Pacific in the United States.

Each scholarship is for $2,000 per year for up to four years of full-time college undergraduate study.

“We’re proud to support the next generation of professionals, business owners and entrepreneurs in our communities.
