JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – The Johns Creek Foundation recently awarded the Johns Creek Arts Center $7,200 for senior outreach art programs. This grant will afford the Johns Creek Arts Center the opportunity to provide free art enrichment programs to seniors in local senior assisted living centers and active adult communities. Art workshops will include ceramics, silk painting and mosaic, among others.
The senior centers typically cannot afford these specialized art workshops, but exposure to art is proven to be a great stress reducer with therapeutic benefits.
The Johns Creek Arts Center has been well received at senior centers and has also offered workshops on-site in their clay studio.
The Johns Creek Foundation is dedicated to the promotion of excellence in all aspects of the community within the city of Johns Creek. Through the support of nonprofit organizations, the Johns Creek Foundation focuses on the enhancement of recreational, cultural and education initiative and the strengthening of Johns Creek’s unique community spirit.
“We are fortunate that we live in a community that recognizes the benefit of art programs for seniors and that we have a foundation that will help support these types of valuable programs,” said Gail Hisle, JCAC executive director.
The foundation recognizes the contribution that art programs make to their mission.
“I and the other board members value the relationship with JCAC and their commitment to the community at large,” said JC Foundation Treasurer State Rep. Lynne Riley (Johns Creek).
