JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – Findley Oaks Elementary School is one step closer to taking a giant leap in achievement for all of its students.
The school’s PTA recently presented Principal Lacey Andrews with a check for $10,000 to use toward the purchase and set up of a leveled library. A leveled library consists of small sets of fiction and nonfiction books that teachers use in providing small-group instruction across the curriculum.
Instead of a “one size fits all” approach, a leveled library gives teachers access to appropriate resources that help meet the needs of students at all levels of learning.
Findley Oaks’ leveled library will focus in particular on supporting the goals outlined in the Common Core, which is a set of rigorous standards adopted by Georgia and many other states.
“It is wonderful to have a community of parents and an active PTA that values learning for all students and goes the extra mile to help support it,” said Andrews.
