“It’s Just Hair” cut-a-thon May 20, in Johns Creek benefits the hairless

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – For the seventh year, Alpharetta resident Diane Cooley and her daughter will hold the “It’s Just Hair” cut-a-thon to cut long hair to help people with severe hair loss.

The hair goes toward Locks of Love, the charity best known for providing wigs for people with cancer, but which deals mostly with people suffering from an auto-immune disease called alopecia, in which the body attacks hair follicles, often leaving the victim bald or completely hairless. For girls and women especially, this can be devastating.

Cooley’s daughter, Jenna, 12, has suffered from alopecia her entire life and was the impetus for the cut-a-thon.

The event takes place May 20 at Taylor Brooks Salon, 11705 Jones Bridge Road in Johns Creek from noon to 8 p.m. All haircuts and styles are complimentary for those donating 10 inches of hair or more.
