‘Into the Woods’ retells classic tale with surprise twists at the West Forsyth High School auditorium

Presented by Studio West Productions

CUMMING, Ga. — Studio West Productions is presenting the musical theater masterpiece “Into the Woods,” a retelling of classic fairytales with unexpected twists that the entire family will love.

“Into the Woods” is a Tony Award-winning production with a score by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine.

The play rethinks beloved classic fairytales.

An ambivalent Cinderella?

A blood-thirsty Little Red Riding Hood?

A Prince Charming with a roving eye?

A witch who raps?

They’re all among the cockeyed characters in this fractured fairy tale.

“We are taking the musical to a whole new place,” said Eric Gray, artistic director of Studio West. “This summer, I had an opportunity to see the show in a whole new light and fell in love with the show again. Same great show, but with a few little twists to style and sets that make the show an incredible experience.”

Last year, West Forsyth High School’s Studio West Productions came away with the most prizes during the Shuler Hensley Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theatre.

“Into the Woods” runs Thursday, Nov. 8 through Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. at the West Forsyth High School auditorium, 4155 Drew Road in Cumming.

Advance tickets are available over the phone or online for a reduced price of $11 for adults and $7 for students 18 years and younger.
