IRS scam strikes again in Johns Creek



JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – A Windsor Park Drive couple are out $4,600 after falling victim to an IRS scam.

The victim told police she was contacted by phone by someone claiming to be with the Internal Revenue Service. They said she owed $2,300 immediately. She was instructed to buy some Green Dot cash cards at local stores and then tell the caller their numbers. The victim did this. The caller said he would check with the accounting department and call back within half an hour.

When he did call back, he said the victim’s husband would also need to pay $2,300 or he would have trouble. The victim repeated the process.

It was only later the victim realized she was scammed.
