Hit-and-run leads to DUI arrest in Alpharetta

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – A Milton man was arrested July 31 after allegedly hitting two vehicles, a mailbox and then driving away.

Police were called at 9:16 p.m. to the Embassy Suites on North Point Drive about two vehicles rear-ended by the same vehicle and a mailbox knocked over. A witness pointed officers to the rear parking lot of the hotel, where the suspect Ford F-150 had parked. An officer approached the truck, where the driver, George David Wettlaufer, 48, of Old Hickory Hammock Road, Milton, was standing eating a hamburger. He readily admitted to causing an accident, the police report notes. He allegedly smelled of alcohol.

He was arrested for hit-and-run, following too closely, striking a fixed object and DUI.
