FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Four Pinecrest Academy students won awards from the Hispanic Heritage Foundation.
The event was held at Ga. Institute of Technology, the four Pinecrest seniors each won a college scholarship at the ceremony. About 10,000 students apply for this national competition each year. This year, 15 students throughout the state were selected for this honor.
The Pinecrest Academy recipients include:
Kevin Ruiz won gold in the education category, presented by Target.
Maried Perez won bronze in the education category, presented by Target.
Lucia Nuñez won gold in the engineering and mathematics category, presented by ExxonMobil.
Alexandra Moreno won bronze in engineering and mathematics, presented by ExxonMobil.
All of the Pinecrest winners are students of Ana Garcia, department chair for foreign languages and Pinecrest High School Spanish teacher.
The Hispanic Heritage Foundation is a national leadership nonprofit organization that prepares Latino leaders through educational, cultural and workforce programs.
