Golf Tournament in Forsyth County to benefit Red Cross

CUMMING, Ga. — The Northeast Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold its 9th Annual Don Gordon Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, Aug. 26 2013 at the Polo Golf and Country Club 6300 Polo Club Drive in Cumming

This tournament is the only fundraising event the chapter holds each year.

All proceeds of the golf tournament will support the Northeast Georgia Chapter’s humanitarian and disaster service efforts.

To make the golf tournament a success, we need the communities support and participation. For information on sponsorship opportunities, or to enjoy a day of golf while supporting the American Red Cross, please call the chapter office at 770-532-8453.

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds, and provides emotional support to victims of disaster; supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that prevents and alleviates human suffering in face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Many people are not aware that the American Red Cross is not a government agency, and receives no funding from the government. Chapters are responsible for raising the funds necessary to operate and provide services in our communities.

The Northeast Georgia Chapter provides comfort and support to families affected by disasters, whether fire or weather related, in Dawson, Fannin, Forsyth, Gilmer, Hall, Habersham, Lumpkin, Pickens, Rabun, Towns, Union, and White counties.

The Red Cross also provides disaster prevention, preparedness and recovery training in our communities, as well as providing support for other Red Cross services.
