Forsyth man steals diamonds to cover debt



FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — On March 26, a woman in the 400 block of Wood Duck Court in Suwanne told Forsyth County deputies a friend and his girlfriend stayed in her home for a few weeks.

The girlfriend later told the friend she thought her boyfriend may have stolen some diamonds from her jewelry box.

The girlfriend said she found internet searches for diamond values in her phone’s history.

The girlfriend said the boyfriend has a gambling problem and likes to play poker.

Deputies confronted the boyfriend later while he was at Stars and Strikes off Ga. 9 in Cumming.

He said he took the diamonds because he needed to pay back a friend he owed money to.

He said he pawned them at a shop off Buford Highway and handed the receipt to deputies

Daniel Puffer, 20, was charged with misdemeanor theft by taking. He was taken to Forsyth County Detention Center.
