FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The Forsyth County Fire Department will join around 100 fire departments across Georgia to help “Give Burns the Boot” during their upcoming annual boot drive benefiting the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.
Motorists can expect to see firefighters at intersections throughout the county on consecutive Saturdays, May 11 and May 18.
Donations collected during the boot drive will be presented to the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation and will be used for fire safety and prevention education, the support of medical facilities and the assistance of burn survivors in their recovery.
“Through their generous contributions during the boot drive, our citizens demonstrate their compassion for Georgia’s burn victims,” said Fire Chief Danny Bowman.
The Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation’s primary source of fundraising is the annual
“Give Burns the Boot” boot drive. Money raised will also go to Camp Oo-U-La, Georgia’s only camp held exclusively for burn-injured children.
New this year is the option to donate online via the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation virtual boot drive. Visit www.giveburnstheboot.org and look for the FCFD page. A portion of the total funds raised will be returned to the FCFD to support local fire prevention and education efforts.
