FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — On Nov. 15, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office was recognized by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety at the 13th annual Governor’s Challenge Awards Ceremony held in Macon, Ga.
For the second year in a row, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office won first place in the 251-500 officers category. In the specialty category, the agency received the motorcycle safety award for the fifth year in a row
Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office placed first in that category in Rookie of the Year.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office also received the coveted Governor’s Cup trophy.
The Governor’s Cup is awarded annually to an agency across the state for achievement of the highest standard of excellence in highway safety.
Designed to honor achievement in highway safety enforcement and education, the awards recognize agencies for the approach and effectiveness of their overall highway safety programs.
This annual event recognizes the efforts of law enforcement agencies of all sizes and from all over the state.

The program featured recognition in seven categories based on department size, as well as several other specialty categories.
Agencies submitted their applications in 2013 for review.
