Forsyth GOP welcomes Gov. Deal

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Gov. Nathan Deal addressed about 150 people during the first Forsyth County Republican Party meeting of the year on Jan. 18.

Deal, who is running for reelection this year, spoke of concerns about education and noted that the state’s business-friendly approach has attracted national praise.

In his 30-minute speech, Deal emphasized the importance of the technical college system to provide a well-educated workforce. Deal also spoke about the importance of criminal justice system accountability and recovery programs for nonviolent offenders.

"The Governor focused his message on the economy and efforts to attract businesses to Georgia," said Brad Wilkins, chairman of the Forsyth County Republican Party.

Eugene Yu, candidate for U.S. Senate, also spoke at the GOP’s monthly meeting at the VFW Post in Cumming, 1045 Dahlonega Highway.

The election qualifying deadline is Friday, March 7, and the primary election is Tuesday, May 20.
