FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – A 26-year-old Forsyth County man working as a paraprofessional at a Forsyth County middle school was arrested Dec. 5 and charged with one count of sexual battery against a minor.
Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division Major Dan Jagoe said the Forsyth County School system contacted the sheriff’s office Monday, Dec. 3 after a Riverwatch Middle School student made an outcry to officials.
An investigation was launched immediately.
“As a result of the investigation, we made an arrest today,” Jagoe said.
Marvin Shane Pilcher, 26, of Suwanee, was arrested and charged with one count of sexual battery on a minor.
Pilcher is being held in the Forsyth County Detention Center with no bond.
“Forsyth County Schools takes allegations of this nature very seriously,” said Jennifer Caracciolo, a school system spokeswoman. “The safety and security of our students is our number one priority.
Forsyth County Schools will not tolerate this type of behavior for its employees.”
The investigation is ongoing.
Update: The charge against Marvin Shane Pilcher has not been dropped. He was charged with sexual battery against a minor. That is still the charge. He was released from the Forsyth County Detention Center on 12-7-12 at 8:05 p.m. on a $5,610 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Superior Court on Jan. 2, 2013.
