Forsyth County firefighters compete for ‘Toughest Firefighter’



CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — Five Forsyth County firefighters took part in the Toughest Firefighter Competition in the Georgia Police and Fire Games, held at the Carroll County Public Safety Training Facility.

Fire Lt. Paul McAfee and firefighters Les Leger, Jon Lent, Jon McPherson and Steve Tabaka of Forsyth County Fire Station No. 1 in downtown Cumming participated.

The competition consists of five challenges all completed while wearing full turnout gear and a self-contained breathing apparatus.

McAfee and Lent placed first in their age category. Leger placed second in his age category and Tabaka placed third.

“I congratulate these fine troops on participating in this year’s Toughest Firefighter Competition,” said Forsyth County Fire Chief Danny Bowman.
