FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. -- Forsyth County Senior Services invites citizens to a free artist demonstration day at Sexton Hall Enrichment Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.
The "Artist Demo Day" provides the public an opportunity to experience demonstrations by instructors displaying different art forms available in the Senior Services' art program.
"Our art program for seniors is continuing to grow by leaps and bounds," Senior Services Director Michael Bohn said. "We are excited to offer an opportunity for potential students to see what the program has to offer."
During the March 23 event, four instructors will each provide a presentation offering a glimpse into the various programs available including painting, photography, glass art and pottery.
"Providing the opportunity to see a presentation by the actual instructors will allow people the chance to experience the class before enrolling in the next session," Bohn said. "Those who enroll in an art class that day will receive a 10 percent discount on the total price of the class."
The day and evening class sessions last for six weeks. For the next session beginning in April, new opportunities will be available for citizens to enjoy including an open art studio time on Monday evenings where students may work on anything from watercolors to pastels with an instructor available for advice if needed; a class on how to make the best use of digital cameras; a glass art program scheduled for after hours on Tuesday evenings; and much more. Day classes are open to adults age 50+, and evening classes are open to those 18 years of age and older.
Senior Services plans to continue to add new classes in the future including an art class for grandparents and children scheduled to begin this summer.
Sexton Hall Enrichment Center is located at 2115 Chloe Road, just off of Sharon Road between Peachtree Parkway and Old Atlanta Road.
