FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Gov. Nathan Deal has appointed Forsyth County Fire Chief Danny D. Bowman to the Ga. Board of Public Safety.

Bowman, a former member of the U.S. Air Force and a former member of the Fulton County Fire Department, has served as president of the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs and was named “Georgia Fire Chief of the Year” in 2010.

He and his wife, Donna, have five children and seven grandchildren.

They reside in Cumming.

The appointment was announced Nov. 2.

“I am deeply honored and humbled that the governor trusts me with this appointment,” Bowman said. “I promise the citizens of Forsyth County that I will represent them well.”

Bowman said the Governor had let him know his name was in the process, but he had to undergo a rigorous federal and state background check before the appointment was official.

Bowman will be part of a 15 member board.

The Board of Public Safety oversees the Ga. Bureau of Investigation, the Dept. of Public Safety and the Ga. Public Safety Training Center and meets about eight times per year.
