CUMMING, Ga. — The South Forsyth cross country team is sponsoring the War Eagles 5K race at 8:30 a.m., Nov. 17.
The race will be held at South Forsyth High School, 585 Peachtree Parkway in Cumming. The course is a unique combination of road, grass and trails throughout the school property.
This is a fundraiser for the cross country team, which placed fourth in the Region 6-AAAAAA meet on Nov. 3 in Roswell.
The team has some fast runners.
Savannah Carnahan, a freshman, placed third overall in the girls’ regional meet, while sophomore Ryan Peppenhorst placed second and junior Jake Howlin placed eighth in the boys’ meet.
Both the boys’ and girls’ teams have qualified as the only county teams to compete in the state meet in Carrolton on Nov. 10.
Proceeds from the team’s fundraiser will be used to purchase additional equipment and cover travel expenses to competitive meets next season.
Online registration and more details are available at www.active.com.
Participants may also register starting at 7 a.m. on race day at the school.
Registration fees are $20 for pre-registered runners, who will receive a Dri-Fit shirt, $25 for race day runners and $15 for runners not requesting a shirt.
Shirts are guaranteed for pre-registered runners and while quantities last on race day. Early packet pick-up will be on Wednesday, Nov. 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Four40 Kitchen + Bar, 440 Peachtree Parkway at the Avenue Forsyth.
