Forgery suspect found six months later in Atlanta

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – An Ellenwood man was arrested several months after he was suspected in trying to cash a forged check at a local bank.

A teller at the BB&T bank on Windward Parkway said a man came into the bank Dec. 26 and attempted to cash a check for $985.40. The teller said the signature on the check looked strange, so she called the company who issued the check. They said the check was a forgery.

The suspect, identified as Don Milton Hankins, of Ellenwood fled the bank before police could arrive. Hankins was found May 6 and arrested in Atlanta. He was charged with forgery fourth degree and identity fraud.
