CUMMING, Ga. — Third-graders need to ignite their imagination.
The Forsyth County Fire Department is hosting its third annual fire safety poster contest.
“We have had a great response in the first two years of holding the fire safety poster contest,” Division Chief Jason Shivers said. “We look forward to hopefully receiving even more poster entries this year.”
The contest is open to all third-grade students in Forsyth County public and private schools and home-schooled students. Three winners will receive a pizza party with their class and local firefighters. The winning and runner-up posters will be displayed in county buildings.
“One of the fire department’s goals is to prevent incidents from occurring through public education,” Forsyth County Fire Chief Danny Bowman said. “This poster contest is just one way we work to achieve that goal. It serves as a great opportunity to engage our students in a very positive way.”
Posters should be created on paper with minimum dimensions of 8.5 inches by 11 inches and maximum dimensions of 18 inches by 24 inches. The required release form needs to be attached to the back. Posters will not be accepted if they are on poster board.
Deadline for submissions is March 15. Posters should be sent to the following address:
Fire Department of Forsyth County, Edward Siggelkow, 3520 Settingdown Road, Cumming, Ga. 30028.
