JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Centennial High School hosted the Georgia High School Fencing League Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The six-hour event hosted about 100 fencers from eight different schools.
The schools represented at the tournament included Pope, Johns Creek, Centennial, Roswell, Lambert, South Forsyth, Pinecrest and Milton high schools.
“I enjoy the fact that fencing is more of a thinking sport, and I like that it’s very individual,” said Jordan Hirsch, a freshman at Milton High School “You don’t have to depend on anyone but yourself.”
Shivani Bhagat, a sophomore at South Forsyth, added that the atmosphere and people at fencing tournaments are interesting and kind.
“One of my favorite parts about fencing is getting to meet the awesome competitors,” Bhagat said.
