ALPHARETTA, Ga. – In September, Doug and Anna Durham opened their office of Express Employment Professionals, so they could work together and do something for their community.
“We grew up alike in that we both came from servant-minded families,” said Anna Durham. “We grew up here, and Doug and I love this community. We’re invested in this community and we are interested in helping people and companies grow here.”
Doug Durham said they started their company, at 2440 Old Milton Parkway in Alpharetta, as franchisees of Express Employment because it gave them the freedom to be entrepreneurs with the flexibility and backup of being an organization that has 600 businesses worldwide.
“We have assistance centers that can help us with any question. Meanwhile, we have the contacts in the community that run deep,” Doug said. “All of this helps us do what we like best, which is helping to put people to work at a great job. That is really a great feeling.”
The Durhams assess their people, look at their client companies and then match needs and strengths.
“We specialize in customized solutions for our companies’ workforce challenges,” he said. “The biggest part of my job is to evaluate their needs and help them fill those needs with the best qualified people available.”
Anna’s end is to keep a rich flow of employees with the skill sets to fill those needs that this north metro market has.
They offer flexible plans for the companies and the employees. They can supply temporary positions while a business holds a position open. They can provide employees looking for permanent work on a trial basis called an evaluation hire, and they provide direct hires who have the skills to come aboard full-time right away.
Express Employment makes it easy for the client company. They carry the payroll burden and pay the wages and insurance of their workers, and the company is billed. That way, the workers get health benefits right away while both sides see how well the fit is.
“I think of myself as a matchmaker,” Anna said. “When we get a good match, it makes everybody happy. We have a servant nature, which why we are excited about our company.”
That brings up “Operation Gobble Gobble,” in which they have a goal of putting 50 people to work with 50 companies during the week of Nov. 12-16. And each person who gets hired will get a Thanksgiving Day turkey from Express Employment as well.
“We think it will make them feel good about getting a job and make us feel good too,” Doug said.
