ALPHARETTA, Ga. – A man is in serious condition after he was involved in a serious car crash Jan. 24.
Alpharetta police and fire units responded to a one-vehicle accident at 6:31 p.m. with the driver sustaining serious injuries at the intersection of Westside Parkway and Hembree Road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim who was ejected from the 1997 beige Lincoln Mark VIII after the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
The initial investigation by police indicates the car may have been traveling at a very high rate of speed and that a second vehicle may have been involved.
An investigation is underway to determine if a second vehicle was involved, if a vehicle-to-vehicle impact took place or if the act of drag racing was involved.
“Speed looks like a contributing factor,” said George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.
He said police are investigating whether the victim was drag racing, but they are looking for witnesses who may have seen the crash.
Possible witnesses are encouraged to contact Officer Swerdlove at 678-297-6367.
The driver remains in very serious condition at a local hospital.
