David Famiye Yankey, Sr., 54, of Roswell, died Sept. 23

David Famiye Yankey, 54, devoted husband and dedicated father, passed away September 23, 2013 at his home in Roswell.

He was born and raised in Axim, Ghana. As a young adult he earned a Bachelor’s degree from Sekondi College, Ghana, and a MBA from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. He also held the professional certification of PMP, Project Management Professional. After marrying his bride and starting a family in Sydney, he moved to the U.S. in 2000. David was active in his community and spent many hours volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, supporting Centennial Knights Football Boosters, mentoring individual team members, and serving as president of the Spring Ridge HOA. He and his family are active members of Fellowship Bible Church in Roswell, GA. He had a heart for the homeless and often served in a downtown soup kitchen or met individuals on the street, encouraging them, providing resources, and sharing the gospel. David truly walked the walk, and lived his faith in all he did. He proudly became a U.S. Citizen in July 2013. Above all he was deeply devoted to God and his family. He is preceded in death by his mother Bernice Coleman and father David Yankey. He is survived by his wife Darina; sons David Yankey, Jr., Alexander, and Jerome; brothers James A Yankey, Larry E Yankey (both of Ghana), Charles N M Yankey (United Kingdom), and Bernard Yankey (Italy); sisters Grace B Yankey, Joyce A Yankey, and Lily B Yankey (all of Ghana); father-in-law Gustav Pagac, mother-in-law Helena Pagac, and brothers-in-law Daniel, Peter, Lubosh, and George Pagac.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday September 28th, 2pm at Fellowship Bible Church, 480 W. Crossville Road, Roswell, GA 30075.
