ROSWELL, Ga. — North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC), a comprehensive North Fulton social services agency, received a $3,000 grant on April 1 as part of the Restaurant Community Grants program from the Darden Foundation, the charitable arm of Darden Restaurants Inc.
This grant is one of more than 850 awarded through Darden’s second annual Restaurant Community Grants Program.
The grants program, now in its second year, empowers each restaurant in the Darden family of brands to help award a $1,000 grant to support local community programs.
This year’s donation will enable NFCC’s food pantry to provide nutritional food items to more than 5,000 low-income families.
North Fulton families in need will benefit from nutritional support, and will be able to maximize limited household income.
Many restaurants and brands worked together to award one nonprofit organization with a larger grant and make a greater impact in their community.
The restaurants will award more than $1.9 million to more than 850 exceptional nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and Canada.
Nonprofits receiving grants will give access to postsecondary education, preservation of natural resources and hunger.
Darden’s Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52, The Capital Grill and Eddie V’s brands participated in the program.
“Donors, volunteers and staff at North Fulton Community Charities lift up our neighbors with dignity and respect to help them, whether the need is food, clothing, life-skills training or temporary financial assistance,” said Guy Kriske, NFCC board president.
Many clients who come to NFCC never expected to be in a position where they would need to ask for help in order to support their families.
As caseworkers meet with individuals and families in need, they hear heartbreaking accounts of unexpected circumstances that have resulted in hardship, often caused by the loss of employment.
As the population in North Fulton continues to diversify and grow, NFCC is providing essential needs, including food, that provide a pipeline of support that can lead to sustainable change.
