FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The Cumming Post of the American Legion is celebrating Armed Forces Day with an annual barbecue lunch fundraiser.
The event is open to the public and will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 in front of the Walmart on Market Place Boulevard.
Lunches will be $7 each. Each lunch includes a jumbo barbecue sandwich, chips, pickles and a 12-ounce drink.
Patrons will have the opportunity to view the Howitzer Cannon, which was captured in the 1991 Iraq war.
The American Legion is a group of veterans that continue to serve their country and community through local programs.
All of the proceeds support Cumming-based projects such as helping disabled veterans in need, sponsoring Forsyth County JROTC high school marksmanship programs, helping Cumming’s youth scouting programs, holding American flag classes and sponsoring the American Legion oratorical contest and color guard.
