ROSWELL, Ga. – June 27 marks the date of the third annual Judson Collegiate and Legends Pro-Am Challenge. Roswell Mayor Jere Wood, along with city officials and tournament participants, gathered at the Country Club of Roswell June 5 to commemorate the past success of the Judson Challenge and promote this year’s golf tournament.
“It’s a real honor for Roswell to host this tournament,” said Wood. “The Judson Challenge brings the younger generation forward.”
The Judson Challenge was founded in memory of Jim and Beth Judson, who tragically passed away in a plane crash in 2010 on their way home from their daughter Lauren’s golf tournament. With her brother Dean, Lauren decided to honor her parents through the sport they all loved so much.
“The past three years have been really incredible, and it’s been an honor to see how the tournament has grown,” Lauren said.
The tournament has made leaps and bounds in a short span of time.
“The Judson Challenge has become quite a spectacular event,” said Jackie Cannizzo, tournament director of the Judson Challenge and director of instruction at the Country Club of Roswell. “We’ve had incremental growth on many levels. We have 39 universities that will be represented on a collegiate level.”
Golf pros from the Legends Tour play an integral part in this tournament.
“The Judson is great competition for Legends players,” said pro golfer Rosie Jones. “It’s very exciting to be a part of the growth of this tournament. We are thankful to the city of Roswell for hosting this event.”
The Judson Challenge promises not only a competitive weekend of golf for adults, but also interactive entertainment for children as well. U.S Kids Golf will sponsor a clinic on Kids’ Day, which will include face painting, balloons and inflatables provided by the Atlanta Hawks.
The Judson Challenge will culminate in a concert at Willow Springs Park. For information on tickets for the Judson Challenge, visit www.judsongolf.com.
