ROSWELL, Ga. – When on-air radio personality Moby from WNGC 106.1’s Moby in the Morning show visited the Cottage School’s Career Café May 6, the TCS media center was overflowing with students eager to hear about Moby’s career trajectory in broadcasting.
“Many of our students were surprised to learn that Moby got his start in rock and roll music before moving to country radio,” said Lynn Haas, career counselor and coordinator of Career Café. “He really brought home the realities of the job – like getting up at 3 a.m. to do a show, then working for hours in the afternoon to prepare for the next day.
“It was a good reality check for those students who thought it was all about going to concerts and meeting celebrities.”
Held once a month, Career Café is a speaker series where Cottage School guests discuss their careers, which in turn helps students explore various job opportunities. Previous Career Café participants have been the executive chef from Turner Field, a political lobbyist and a medevac helicopter pilot.
The Cottage School is a private school situated on a 23-acre campus in Roswell.
