Costco’s new Forsyth warehouse liquor permit OK’d

CUMMING, Ga. — Costco Wholesale Corporation received approval for the sale of alcohol at its future facility.

At the May 21 Cumming City Council meeting, councilmembers unanimously approved the Costco conditional use permit to sell packaged alcohol at its upcoming location off Bald Ridge Marina Road and the intersection with Market Place Boulevard off exit 15 and Ga. 400.

Scott Morgan, director of planning and zoning, said the business had to go through zoning to determine if the new location met the area’s standards and to discuss the effect of the project as far as traffic and other area impacts.

“After holding a hearing and considering these factors, the planning and zoning board recommended approval,” Morgan said.

Jeff Rudder, Costco director of real estate development, addressed the council and said how “pleased we are to soon open a warehouse here.”

“We expect it to be a success,” Rudder said.
