CUMMING, Ga. — Forsyth County is getting a Costco Wholesale.
Everett Thompson, Cumming Planning and Zoning’s chief building official, said construction is expected to wrap up by Thanksgiving on the 152,000-square-foot building on the northeast corner of Bald Ridge Marina Road and Market Place Boulevard near Ga. 400 and Exit 15.
“Everybody I’ve talked to says they are looking forward to them being here,” Thompson said.
Plans were submitted to the city in February and construction crews are grading the site.
The $55 per year membership warehouse club has hundreds of locations worldwide and one in nearby Alpharetta.
A post about the new Costco on the Forsyth Herald Facebook page had one of the largest community responses and about 80 shares.
Comments ranged from “Yay,” to “so excited.” Others said they now wish for a Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods to set up shop in Forsyth County.
Cumming Mayor H. Ford Gravitt said Costco will create about 150 new jobs.
