City of Roswell celebrates National Bike to Work Day

ROSWELL, Ga. –– Mayor Jere Wood, City Administrator Kay Love, Councilwoman Dr. Betty Price and several city of Roswell staff members started their morning off right by pedaling their way into work May 17, National Bike to Work Day.

This event was part of the city’s celebration of National Bike Month. City employees also used this healthy, sustainable, economic transportation option to ride to lunch together each Wednesday in May.

Earlier in the month, the city joined Bike Roswell in helping students from Hembree Springs Elementary School ride their bicycles to school on the new Hembree Road Multi-Use Trail.

In 2006, Roswell became the first city in Georgia to be awarded the designation of “Bicycle Friendly Community” from the League of American Bicyclists. A Bicycle Friendly Community welcomes cyclists by providing safe accommodation for cycling and encouraging people to bike for transportation and recreation.
