ALPHARETTA, Ga. — On the evening of Friday, Dec. 6, holiday festivities kicked off the winter season in downtown Alpharetta.
Hundreds of residents gathered to celebrate with the grandest annual tree lighting ceremony.
This year, the city partnered with North Point Community Church, whose band performed rock and roll versions of popular Christmas songs. Everyone was invited to sing along.
Mayor David Belle Isle and his family followed the band’s performance with a reading of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” before the illumination of the 50-foot Christmas tree on the corner of North Main Street and Milton Avenue.
Children enjoyed visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus, the snow playground and the giant snow globe bounce house.
The street was filled with food trucks and a Christmas-themed farmers market to provide food and refreshments.
Guests enjoyed their treats while sitting at one of the many tables set up in front of a large screen playing classic holiday movies all through out the night.
