Change 4 Georgia founder speaks at council meeting

CUMMING, Ga. — Remington Youngblood, who founded the Change 4 Georgia nonprofit community service organization that provides soldiers and veterans’ families with school supplies, food and personal items, spoke to the Cumming City Council and mayor on Jan. 21.

“Recently, we’ve provided student veterans with scholarships at local colleges for their extraordinary efforts,” Youngblood, 12, said.

Youngblood, a seventh-grader at Riverwatch Middle School, started the organization when he was 10 years old.

To date, the organization has raised about $62,000 to assist veterans and their families. The most recent donation came from Alpharetta-based Honeybaked Ham, which held a food drive at their corporate office and donated hams to veterans’ families.

This is Youngblood’s second time addressing council members who will give him a proclamation this week.
